Football Report For Season 1964-65

This season was quite a successful one with all three teams showing good form during a season comparatively free of cancelled matches.

The U/13's XI played well, winning the majority of .their matches, with, in some instances, very high scores such as the 15-0 defeat of Manchester Grammar School early in the season.

The most successful team was the U/15's XI who became the champion school of Oldham and the runner-up to Rochdale in a competition to find the best school team in Lancashire.  The team also carried off the Athletic Cup by beating Middleton Hollins 4-2 at Boundary Park at the end of the season.

The 1st XI, made up mainly from 5th formers, was not as successful, winning only 7 of their 21 matches, but, like the U/13's, having some high scores such as the 13-4 defeat of Rochdale, and, on the gloomier side, the 12-1 defeat by Hyde.

P. Hunter was the leading goalscorer for the 1st XI, whilst Holt took the honours for the U/15's.

K. Abbott and P. Hunter gained Manchester & District honours while Holt and J. Fletcher both gained town team honours.

Therefore with the success of the two younger teams during the season the future of the 1st XI looks very bright.
