Counthillian Magazines

Counthill

We were pointed to these magazines by Jean Tibbet (née Crowther) who had donated her copies of them, along with much other material, to OLSA.  Armed with references from Jean, Kevin was able to seek them out at OLSA, and with their permission, we make them available here on the site.

These are a "natural continuation" of the Kaskenian Magazines, in that the whole school (East Oldham High School) moved from Greengate Street into the new building at Counthill in 1951.  Thus, these magazines continue where the Kaskenians left off.

(As you will appreciate, the Greengate building was then occupied by pupils and staff from West Oldham High School, and was renamed Greenhill)

We currently have these documents only in pdf format.

Simply click the filename to download the file to your Adobe reader.  Be warned though - these are quite large files (about 10MB), and can take some time to dowload, say 10 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the speed of your broadband connection.  (Note that, once downloaded, you can save a local copy, so that you don't need to repeat the exercise.)

In time, we hope to be able to convert the files to a web-friendly form, as we did with the Greenhillian magazines.
