After bragging about posting two formal school groups in one month, I
have just posted the third! It was provided quite out of the blue by
Donald Heap as part of the new members follow up correspondence.
It shows a 1953 u14 Rugby XV. It is very obviously taken at Counthill
School and is probably about the latest date that such photos can
qualify for inclusion as being predominantly of 'Greengate St'
interest. Donald and his contemporaries spent one year there as pupils
of East Oldham High School before transferring. The mount is dated May
1953.
It is also probably a comparatively rare rugby union photo from Oldham
Ed schools, the switch from League to Union then Soccer apparently
taking place very suddenly over 1953/4. Any help with names would be
appreciated as usual, particularly with Alan Jones who apparently
could be either 102 or 206. Though I have used my managerial
discretion to settle on 206 for the moment.
